Albina Nikkonen took part in the Russian-Taiwan Innovation Forum

Within the framework of acting Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed by Russian Venture Capital Association (RVCA) and Chinese Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (CVCA) on October 4, 2012, Albina Nikkonen, the RVCA Executive Director, took part in the Russian-Taiwan Innovation Forum and in the largest innovation exhibition of China − China Hi-Tech Fair. The Fair, founded in 1999, is the major exhibition platform where one can see and evaluate the achievements of science and technology potential of China and Shenzhen Special Economy Zone (SSEZ). Within the events of November 11−18, there were visits to the Research Institute of industrial technologies, the biggest technopark in Hsinchu, and TsinHua University. Also, the Chinese part organized meetings in the Ministry of Economy, the Information Industry Institute and the National Council on Science.

This is the first official visit of the Russian party to China after signing the Memorandum of Cooperation and Understanding which was signed in the frames of "Global Innovation Partnership 2012" and reflected the both parties’ concern in creation of the environment favorable for structuring mutually beneficial interrelationship between "promising technology entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and direct private investors from the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation". "Today, increase of economic role of the countries of Asian-Pacific region takes on a special significance. Signing the Memorandum will allow establishing lasting communication between the member organizations of CVCA and RVCA and render to both Associations the opportunity of sharing experience in different areas of activity", − said Albina Nikkonen at the Memorandum signing.

The Innovation Forum organized by the Chinese party with the assistance of Russian Education Programs Foundation and the Ministry of Economic Development of the RF, rendered Russian participants a unique opportunity to evaluate technology potential of East Asia and adopt the experience of foreign colleagues in the sphere of innovative developments.

"The Exhibition format is unique, − said Albina Nikkonen at the meeting. – Since 2000, China takes the second place in the World (after the USA) by the number of scientific and research workers, and the sixth place – by the R&D expenditures. According the data of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the predominate position by R&D spendings in China is occupied by private sector – 62.4%, then follow research institutes with 26%, and the higher education institutes (11%) are at the third place. Ranging of this kind is a great progress for the country which just recently has been oriented to mass manufacturing of “copy” goods and services. Now, the commitment of China’s private sector to innovative character of development is achieved, and integration of science and business is provided. Structuring effective system for encouraging participation of science in development and realization of the most actual innovative projects, as well as creating an opportunity for youth to get education abroad – all of these create a platform for active economic integration of Russia and China".
